Tombolo is an NYC-based escapewear brand known for its signature cabana shirts and original artwork-driven collections. They came to us running Showcase v5 — an outdated theme that was limiting what they could do with their store. They wanted advice on how to modernise and upgrade their site, building on a solid foundation for upcoming UX and CRO improvements while making sure they met ADA accessibility requirements.
We started with detailed research and an audit of key features, existing functionality, and the UX/CRO improvements Tombolo wanted to pursue. This informed our theme recommendation, and we moved forward with a full migration to Broadcast by Presidio.
The migration went well beyond swapping themes. We conducted a full audit of Tombolo's page templates — the store had over 100 — and consolidated them down to what was actually needed. On the front-end, we refined button hover states, search behaviour, sold-out button logic, the sticky add-to-cart among others. Product pages were adjusted to a detailed brief provided by the client, and we're currently building a custom Adidas-style bundling and upsell block for product pages, set to launch soon.
We also structured and reorganized metafields to be used in line with Tombolo's needs, throughout the store — powering size charts, care instructions, upsell products, and pre-order management with badges across the site to name a few. On the app side, we integrated Klaviyo for back-in-stock notifications, configured Yotpo, customised the UpCart cart drawer, and worked on VO Product Options to match the brand's requirements.
As part of the project, Tombolo shared a WAVE accessibility audit across 938 pages - we assisted in resolving over 99% of all errors identified, with the remaining items to be handled by Tombolo directly. These findings were factored into every decision made during the migration from Showcase v5 to the latest version of Broadcast.
We also collaborated with the Presidio Creative team, the developers of Broadcast, sharing detailed feedback on the theme's limitations for consideration in future theme updates.
