What a German Shopify developer has to get right

German stores carry legal requirements that end up in the code, not just in the copy. A German developer should know them without being told.

The order process. The final order button must state clearly that the order costs money, for example "zahlungspflichtig bestellen", and shoppers need withdrawal information and the model withdrawal form. Check the button text in your checkout language settings.

Unit prices. Goods sold by weight, volume or length need a unit price (Grundpreis) shown clearly with the price. Shopify includes a unit price field for stores in Germany, but the theme has to display it everywhere a price appears.

Consent before tracking. Under § 25 of the TDDDG, non-essential cookies need consent. The developer wires analytics and ad pixels so they wait for it.
