Melo Juvenile is a B2B wholesale business operating on Shopify. They supply juvenile products to verified wholesale buyers under net-payment terms. As a high-volume wholesaler, they rely on extending credit to buyers to close large deals and foster long-term relationships.
Verified wholesale buyers and retailers in the juvenile products space who purchase inventory on net-payment terms.
Melo Juvenile needed to eliminate the operational and financial risk of overdue B2B invoices by automating their credit control process. The goal was to stop overdue buyers from placing new orders, reduce manual admin work, and ensure real-time communication with both buyers and the internal team all without building custom software.
Before the automation, Melo Juvenile faced three critical breakdowns:
No automatic account restrictions – Overdue buyers retained full access to the storefront and could continue placing orders on top of unpaid balances.
Delayed internal visibility – The finance team spent 5 to 10 hours per week manually cross-referencing spreadsheets and flagging overdue accounts, but the lag was long enough for additional orders to slip through.
Reactive communication – Buyers weren’t notified until a human sent an email, and admins weren’t looped in until even later.
The result was a slow, reactive cycle that was burning admin time and still failing to catch everything in time.
We partnered with Melo Juvenile to build an event-driven automation that monitors payment status in real time, locks overdue accounts the moment a deadline passes, and notifies both the buyer and the admin team instantly with zero manual input at any step.
Rather than building a custom software application from scratch, we orchestrated two purpose-built Shopify tools into one coordinated system:
Mechanic acts as the automated brain tracking due dates, listening for payment events, updating customer accounts in real time, and sending targeted emails at every stage of the credit lifecycle.
Locksmith serves as the dynamic gatekeeper intercepting active user sessions and restricting access to specific pages based on customer tags applied by Mechanic.
By linking these two systems, we built a self-healing workflow that neutralizes credit risk on autopilot while keeping every stakeholder informed at every step.
Area | Before | After |
|---|---|---|
Admin Time on Invoice Follow-ups | 5–10 hours per week | 0 hours, fully automated |
Accidental Orders on Overdue Accounts | Frequent | Zero, checkout is physically blocked |
Buyer & Admin Notifications | Delayed, manual emails | Instant, automated on every state change |
Additional enhancements:
Self-Healing Workflow – The moment a buyer settles their invoice, Mechanic catches the payment, removes the credit-risk tag, and Locksmith reopens the storefront automatically.
Transparent In-App Communication – Instead of a broken page or generic error, the buyer sees a clear announcement bar explaining that their purchasing access is temporarily paused due to an outstanding balance.
Edge Case Handling – Internal order creation paths bypass the frontend restriction, but an instant notification is sent to store admins whenever an exception is made for a flagged account.

The finance team stopped starting their mornings with spreadsheet audits. Overdue buyers received clear, immediate communication instead of silence followed by an awkward call. And admins had full visibility into every account state change in real time.
This wasn’t an expensive enterprise integration, it was two purpose-built Shopify tools configured to work together as one intelligent system. The logic covers the full lifecycle: overdue detection, account locking, buyer communication, admin alerts, payment reconciliation, and automatic unlock.
Wholesale businesses don’t lose money because their buyers are dishonest. They lose it because the systems meant to enforce payment terms are too slow and too manual to keep up. Melo Juvenile fixed that, and accounts receivable went from a weekly headache to something that just runs.
