Description

You find out whether shoppers keep their cart across devices. You also see whether your recent sales are credited to the right place. The fee counts toward the fixes. If you go ahead, I take it off the fix price, so it is not a charge on top.

Who this is for

Maybe shoppers add to cart on their phone and never finish.
Maybe your ad platform claims sales that Shopify does not show.
Maybe customers get more than one reminder about the same cart.
Maybe you cannot tell which sales came from where.

Why now

Shopify has added new Shop features. Its help pages say cart sync is on by default. With a Shop account, a shopper’s cart can now sync across their devices, the Shop app and stores like yours. Shop also reminds shoppers to finish carts they left behind. Sync needs Shop to recognize the shopper, or a sign-in. It can be limited by region and does not combine two carts. If you use cart, loyalty or reminder apps, they may already do some of these jobs.

What I check

I shop your store like your customers do, on a phone and a laptop. If your store is listed in the Shop app, I shop there too.

  1. The cart. I add items on one device, signed in to Shop and then with no account at all. I test whether they arrive whole on the others. Here is what my own test on a store showed. A cart followed a shopper who was signed in to Shop. It showed in the Shop app and on Shop’s own cart page. A cart made in a browser with no account stayed in that browser. The store’s own cart drawer showed the cart only where the shopper was signed in on that store. The Shop app had to be closed and opened again before it showed the cart. Your store may behave differently. Whatever it does, you see it, surface by surface.

  2. Reminders. I leave a cart and a checkout behind and count the messages over two days. I also read what your email and text apps send later, and whether they double up with Shop’s reminders.

  3. Sign-in and Shop Pay. I test whether they still work with your cart and loyalty apps. On older (legacy) customer accounts, signing in with the same email does not sync the cart with Shop. I check which you use.

  4. Sales credit. I take your sales from the last 30 days where Shopify records a source. I compare where Shopify says they came from with your ads and analytics. I look for any sale counted twice or credited wrongly.

If you or your shoppers do not use Shop, tests 2 to 4 run the same. Test 1 checks what your cart app does when a shopper switches devices.

What you get

A written report with screenshots and what I saw. For cart tests, you also see which device, and whether the shopper was signed in. Then a short fix list, in order, each fix at a fixed price. If nothing is broken, the report says so. You decide what goes ahead.

What I need from you

Shopify admin access. You share a four-digit code from your Shopify settings. I send the request, and you approve it.
Access to your email or text app, ads and analytics.
The names of your cart, loyalty and reminder apps.

Timing

3 business days from your payment or my full access (Shopify admin, email, ads and analytics), whichever comes last.

Outside this service

Shop is run by Shopify. I can change how your store and apps work with it, not how Shop behaves.

Questions people ask

Will this change my store?
I do not change your settings, theme or apps during the check. My tests leave a few traces. There are test checkouts in your admin, which Shopify clears after three months. There is a test customer under my email, and my visits show in your reports. I list each one. Any reminders go to my own email and phone, not to your customers.

Will my sales go up?
I do not promise a number. I promise a clear picture of whether carts and credit break, and a fixed price for each fix I find.

What if the fixes cost more than the fee?
You pay the difference, once you agree to a fixed price. If you do not go ahead, you keep the full report.
