Find the Best Shopify Experts in India
The first thing an Indian Shopify store needs isn't a theme. It's a payment provider, since Shopify Payments is off the table for India-based stores. That one choice shapes the rest of the build.
12 Shopify experts in India hold a shopexperts profile as of October 2026, 10 of them agencies and 2 freelancers. Every one lists Shopify development, which makes this a build-focused list. Store setup comes next, with consulting and marketing well behind. All but one list English, so briefing from abroad is straightforward.
Two kinds of buyer use this list: Indian merchants who need payments and GST configured properly, and brands abroad looking for Shopify development capacity in India.
Either way, work through the profiles below and brief your top three identically.

Ten Shopify development companies in India and two freelancers
Development on every profile. All 12 experts based in India list Shopify Development, and 10 list Store Setup & Management. Consulting & Strategy and Marketing & Growth sit at 6 each. For build and integration work, this is a strong place to start. For a brand built from scratch, the local list is thinner: Design, UX & Branding appears on 5 profiles.
Mostly agencies. 10 are agencies and 2 are freelancers. If you want a Shopify agency in India to own a full launch, that bench is where to look: a full launch with a payment provider, GST and a custom theme is a job for one of the agencies; a freelancer suits a single, well-specified task.
Languages. English is on 11 profiles, and German, on 5, outnumbers Hindi on 4. Spanish (3) and Gujarati (2) follow. A German-speaking brand hiring offshore has more choice here than the size of the list suggests.
City. New Delhi is the city most of these profiles give. For development work, city matters far less than whether the team's day overlaps with yours.
Listing order. Indian profiles come first. After them, the listing widens to experts in other countries who take on merchants across Asia, which helps if twelve profiles don't give you enough choice.
Twelve is few enough to read in full. Go through every profile. Shortlist on the stores each one has built, then ask for a staging link or code you can have reviewed, not just screenshots.
What is the Shopify website development cost in India?
Nine of the 12 profiles based in India show a starting price, a small sample worth reading with care. Figures are USD, read from profiles in October 2026, and zero-price listings are dropped. Think of each as a door price for small work, not an estimate for your store.
Middle band
$65 – $500
Where the central half of India-based starting prices fall
Median
$175
The midpoint of nine listed starting prices
Top quarter of listed prices
$500 – $1,500
The highest quarter of India-based starting prices
Low starting prices, real scope. A $65 entry point buys a small fix. A full store with a payment provider integration, GST set-up and custom theme work is a different order of job, so ask for an itemised quote.
Rupees or dollars. Indian stores trade in rupees, while these starting prices are in USD. Indian merchants should ask for INR quotes; brands abroad should fix the currency and payment milestones in the contract.
Brief checklist. The store link or the platform you're moving from, how many products you carry, which payment provider you're leaning towards, whether you want a Hindi checkout, and your deadline.
Setting up Shopify in India: payment providers, GST bills and Hindi
No Shopify Payments. Per Shopify's docs, a store based in India has no access to Shopify Payments and must connect a third-party payment provider. Choosing one is the first decision of the build. A good expert compares providers on fees, settlement times and the payment methods your customers actually use, then tests refunds as well as payments.
GST by hand. Shopify's help centre describes GST as CGST plus SGST within your state and IGST across states. Tax runs on Manual Tax, because Shopify says rates can't be set automatically when they differ by product. Your expert enters the rates from your accountant's figures, product by product where needed.
Bills are a separate job. Shopify doesn't create GST-compliant bills and points merchants to a local service or app. Ask your expert which option they've set up before and how the bill reaches the customer.
Point of sale. Shopify won't ship hardware to India from its own store, so counter equipment comes from third-party retailers. Check each device against the models Shopify supports before you pay for it.
Hindi and English. The Shopify admin and checkout support both languages. Staff can manage the store in Hindi and customers can check out in Hindi, though product pages and emails still need someone to write them.

Payments, GST and developers: questions about hiring in India
Hire a company when the job spans a payment provider integration, GST set-up, theme work and testing, because that's where a team's process earns its fee. Hire a freelancer for a defined task with a clear spec, such as a section rebuild or an app connected properly. For an Indian merchant's first store, payments and tax are the parts not to economise on.
Yes. The payment limits described here only affect India-based stores, not stores that Indian developers build for clients elsewhere. Agree working-hour overlap for calls, the currency and payment milestones, who owns the code, and how the developer gets access. Test the relationship on a small paid job first; the full build can wait until you've seen their code.
Start from your customers: which payment methods they use, and whether you'll take orders from abroad. Then compare fees, how quickly money settles into your bank, and how refunds work. Ask your expert to run a full payment and refund on each shortlisted provider in test mode before you sign anything.
Keep the store, domain and app subscriptions in your own name from day one. Give the developer their own staff access rather than your login, and remove it when the work ends. Pay in milestones tied to things you can check on a staging store, and ask for the theme code at every milestone, not only at the end.
Yes, but plan it rather than flipping a switch. Ask your expert how prices will show in other currencies, which shipping rates and delivery times you'll offer, how duties will be handled, and whether your payment provider accepts cards issued outside India. Each answer changes the build, so settle them before the theme work starts.
