Shopify Experts for Stores in Vietnam
Vietnamese merchants hiring for Shopify work are, for now, hiring across a border. There aren't yet enough Vietnam-based profiles on shopexperts for a local section, so the Shopify experts for Vietnam listed here all work remotely, as agencies and freelancers serving merchants throughout Asia.
Distance matters less than you'd expect, because configuration, theme changes and integrations all happen inside the Shopify admin. What counts is knowing a Vietnamese store's set-up. Shopify Payments isn't something a Vietnam-registered store can switch on, so checkout is handed to a third-party payment provider, prices are in dong and tax rates go in manually. That's where a remote expert's experience shows quickly, or doesn't.
Vietnamese is supported in both the admin and checkout, so language is rarely the sticking point. Start with a small paid task to see how an expert works, then share a full brief and ask for a quote.

Remote Shopify experts for Vietnam: what to settle before work starts
shopexperts doesn't have enough Shopify experts based in Vietnam to give them their own section yet. Every profile below belongs to an agency or freelancer in another country that takes on work from merchants across Asia. Anyone you hire from this list will be remote, so four things need agreeing before the first invoice.
Your accounts stay yours. Register the Shopify store, payment provider account, domain and any paid apps to your business. The expert gets a staff account with only the permissions their tasks need, removed when the work ends.
A reference from Vietnam. Ask for a store selling to customers in Vietnam that the expert built or maintains, and talk to its owner. That one conversation tells you whether they've already connected a third-party provider and set manual tax for a Vietnamese store, or will be working it out as they go.
Money in the contract. Your customers pay in dong; your expert will probably invoice in another currency. Fix the currency and exchange basis in writing, split payment into milestones, and hold back a final payment until the store has run cleanly for a couple of weeks.
A daily overlap. Agree a window when both sides are online, plus what happens to urgent problems outside it. A payment fault on a Saturday morning is the scenario to plan for.
Start with a small paid test, then brief the full build
The cheapest insurance on a remote hire is a paid trial that takes a day or two. Pick a job you need anyway, so the money isn't wasted whoever you choose.
Good trial tasks for a Vietnamese store:
- Connecting your chosen payment provider in test mode, then walking you through a test order and refund
- Setting up shipping zones and rates for the places you deliver
- Importing a sample of products with Vietnamese titles and descriptions, and checking how they display
- Entering your manual tax settings with a written note of each choice
What to watch. Did they ask questions before starting? Did they document what they changed? Did they hit the agreed deadline and flag problems early? Those habits predict the full project better than a portfolio.
Then send the full brief. Product count, the platform you're moving from if any, your chosen provider, any in-person selling, the languages your storefront needs and a launch date. Ask for the quote split into build, launch support and any monthly retainer, and ask what they'd need from you in the first week.
A set-up checklist for Shopify stores in Vietnam
Use this as a checklist when a remote expert scopes your store. If a quote skips any of the five points, ask why.
Payment provider chosen and tested. There's no Shopify Payments for stores based in Vietnam. A third-party provider runs checkout instead, and it controls the payment methods shown, the fees and when payouts land. Your expert should integrate it, run real orders and a refund, and show you the money arriving before launch.
Dong set as store currency. The store currency is the Vietnamese dong (VND). Confirm it in settings before the catalogue goes in.
Tax entered manually and signed off. Manual Tax is the only option Shopify offers for Vietnam; there's no Shopify Tax or Basic Tax. Rates, which products are taxed and how shipping is treated are all set by hand, and you keep them current. Third-party tax apps can be added. Have an accountant approve the settings, and keep the expert's written record of them.
Hardware from outside retailers. Shopify doesn't ship POS hardware from its store to Vietnam, and says merchants there should buy supported devices from third-party retailers. If you sell in person, get a list of compatible devices from your expert before spending anything.
Vietnamese switched on. Vietnamese is supported on both sides: in the admin for your staff and at checkout for your customers. Make sure the storefront copy matches, so shoppers don't move from English product pages into a Vietnamese checkout.
Where a remote expert earns their fee
The jobs a Vietnamese store is likely to hand over, payment first because everything else waits on it:
Third-party payment set-up
Integration, test orders and refund checks for a provider other than Shopify Payments
Vietnamese checkout and storefront
Product pages and policies written to match the Vietnamese checkout
Manual tax settings
Rates and product tax rules entered by hand, with a written record
Cross-border selling
Shipping zones and delivery rules for customers outside Vietnam
Replatforming
Moving catalogue, customers and URLs onto Shopify without losing search traffic
Remote hiring for Vietnamese stores: questions answered
Only if being in the same room genuinely matters, such as training shop staff on point of sale. For an online store, waiting costs you sales. Hire a remote expert now, keep every account in your own name, and you can switch to a local expert later without rebuilding anything.
Not by default. A freelancer is usually quicker to start and simpler to manage for a defined build. An agency suits projects that need design, development and ongoing support from several people, or a store that can't afford a single point of failure. For a remote hire, an agency's cover during holidays and illness counts for more than it would locally.
Ask them to import a sample first. Vietnamese titles and descriptions use diacritics, and a careless spreadsheet export can scramble them; saving import files as UTF-8 avoids most problems. Check how product names and on-site search behave on the storefront before the full catalogue goes in, and keep the original files in case a re-import is needed.
It helps more than you might think. Shopify translates the admin and checkout, but someone has to check that product pages, policies and order emails read naturally, and that no stray English slips into the storefront. If your expert doesn't read Vietnamese, budget for a native-speaking reviewer before launch and have the expert work from copy you've approved.
Yes. It's contained, quick to judge and useful whatever happens next. Ask for the provider integration, a test order in dong, a refund and a written note of the settings. The payment gateway experts page lists specialists in exactly this work.
