What a Shopify expert does when setting up Moast
The install itself is a standard App Store install, and widget placement is drag-and-drop in the theme editor. The paid work is the strategy around that: where the videos go, where the content comes from, how products are tagged, and how you read the numbers once the carousel is live.
Placement strategy first. A video carousel does different work on different pages. On the homepage it introduces the brand voice; on a PDP it closes the "would this suit me" question; on a collection page it breaks the grid monotony; in a Klaviyo email it's a motion cue in a largely static send. The expert work is picking the two or three placements that match the current funnel bottleneck, not plastering carousels across every template on day one.
UGC sourcing playbook. A shoppable video widget is only as good as the content pipeline behind it. On Pro, Moast's UGC collection from customers lets a merchant request videos directly; the expert work is the ask itself (post-purchase email timing, incentive design, legal rights language) and the review pass before anything goes live on the storefront. For stores already running TikToks or Reels, the import side of Moast handles that — the expert work there is picking which videos are brand-safe and which aren't.
Instagram and TikTok imports. The native integrations pull Reels and TikToks straight in, which saves the download-reupload cycle most teams start with. The setup work is deciding which accounts to pull from (your brand, your creators, hashtag feeds), setting the import cadence so the carousel refreshes without manual effort, and running a quick review each week on what came in.
Product tagging that lands on the right variant. The add-to-cart in a shoppable video is where the money is — and the most common failure mode is tagging the parent product instead of the specific variant the creator is wearing or using. The expert work is the taxonomy: which second in the video points to which variant, and are the tag chips surfacing cleanly on mobile where most of the taps happen.
Theme-level styling. The player is lightweight and mobile-first by design, but typography, button styles and the carousel frame still need to read as part of the storefront. A Dawn theme install with default Moast styling is fast but visibly generic; a Horizon or custom theme needs theme-level work to match colours, radii and spacing. This is where a theme specialist earns the fee.
Klaviyo and email integration. The native Klaviyo integration lets the carousels drop into email templates, which is the second-biggest lift most stores get out of Moast after the PDP placement. The setup work is picking which flows carry which videos (welcome flow, abandoned-cart, winback) and testing that the fallback image works for clients that don't render the video (which is most of them).
Rights and consent on customer content. If you're pulling creator content or UGC, the rights conversation is the one most merchants skip. The expert work is standardising the ask (DM template, email template, in-app request copy on Pro) and keeping a log of consent per asset in case a creator asks for a takedown later.
Analytics read. Moast tracks views, clicks and attributed revenue per carousel. The expert work is the monthly read: which placement is pulling its weight, which video is doing the heavy lifting, which product tags convert and which don't, and swapping low performers out before they go stale.
Multi-locale rollout on Shopify Markets (where it applies). For stores running Shopify Markets with locale-specific storefronts, the question is whether the same video feeds apply across locales or whether each market deserves a localised feed with creators from that region. The expert work is deciding which content travels and which doesn't.
What Moast setup and configuration costs
Moast is designed to go live in minutes — install, connect Instagram or TikTok, drop in a widget, tag products. Most merchants won't need an expert to run that first setup at all. Where an hour or two of help earns its fee is on the parts around the install: picking which placements match the current funnel bottleneck, writing the UGC sourcing ask so the pipeline fills itself, tagging products to the right variants, matching the carousel styling to the theme beyond the automatic font pick-up, and reading the view-to-click-to-sale numbers each month. The engagement is hourly, not project-priced.
Hourly rate for setup, theme and UGC work
$75 – $200
Per hour for Shopify setup, theme customisation, CRO and UGC specialists on shopexperts
Typical bookings a merchant can plan for: an hour to walk through placement choices and product-tag taxonomy before touching the app; one to three hours of theme-level styling when the automatic font pick-up isn't enough and the carousel frame, radii and spacing need to match a custom theme; an hour to configure a Klaviyo flow variant with the fallback image set correctly; a short monthly check (half an hour to an hour) to read attributed revenue per placement and swap stale videos out.
Most stores land somewhere between two and six hours of expert time at launch, and skip the retainer once the pipeline is running. Larger engagements — a Shopify Plus store with four markets, a brand-new UGC pipeline and a Horizon or custom theme that needs real theme work — scale on the same hourly basis.
When booking, send your current content pipeline (TikToks and Reels running already, or new to the channel), your target placements, your theme, and whether you want someone to look over the first launch or carry a monthly read of the analytics.
Moast plans and setup details
Two plans, modest pricing. As of October 2026: Free Forever ($0) covers unlimited video views, product tagging in videos, up to 10 videos per widget, unlimited widgets on any page, imports from Reels and TikTok, basic shoppable video analytics, widget customisation, and shoppable videos in the Shop App. Pro at $15 a month (or $165 a year, 8% saving) adds unlimited videos per widget, multi-product tagging, Moast branding removed, unlimited custom video feeds, advanced widget customisation, advanced analytics, UGC collection from customers, and GEO/SEO optimisation. 14-day free trial on Pro. Charges in USD, billed every 30 days. Confirm current pricing on the Shopify App Store listing before you commit — app pricing can change.
Built for Shopify. Moast carries the Built for Shopify badge, which Shopify grants only to apps that meet its own standards for performance, design and integration.
Shoppable video with product tagging. Videos — TikToks, Instagram Reels, imported UGC or merchant-recorded clips — can be tagged with products at specific timestamps. A shopper taps the tag chip while watching and adds to cart without leaving the video view. On Pro, a single video can carry multiple product tags, which matters for lifestyle content showing an outfit rather than a single SKU.
Native Instagram and TikTok imports. Reels and TikToks pull in through the integrations rather than through a download-reupload cycle. The imports can be scheduled so the carousel refreshes automatically, which keeps the content pipeline running without manual lift.
Placements across the storefront and in email. Carousels drop into any theme section — homepage, product pages, collection pages, blog articles, custom pages. The Klaviyo integration carries them into email templates, so a welcome flow or an abandoned-cart email can lead with a motion asset.
Mobile-first and lightweight. The player is built mobile-first and the vendor's performance claim is that the carousel doesn't drag page speed — which is where most other shoppable video apps fall down. A theme-and-performance pass after install is still worth running if your current Lighthouse score is borderline.
Analytics on views, clicks and revenue. Each carousel surfaces views, clicks and attributed revenue. Pro adds advanced analytics across widgets and feeds. The number that matters is attributed revenue per placement — the view count is a vanity metric unless it's reconciled with purchases.
GEO/SEO optimisation (Pro). Moast's Pro plan markets GEO/SEO features for AI assistants and AI shopping surfaces. This is a vendor claim — the mechanic is making video content discoverable to AI crawlers and shopping agents through structured markup. Treat it as a differentiator to test rather than a measured outcome.
UGC collection from customers (Pro). Pro lets merchants request videos directly from customers, which closes the sourcing loop for stores that don't already have a TikTok or Reels pipeline. The practical work is designing the ask (timing after purchase, incentive, length) and reviewing before publication.
Works with Checkout, Shopify Flow, Shopify Admin, Instagram, TikTok, Klaviyo, Judge.me, Loox and the Shop App. The reviews-app integrations (Judge.me, Loox) matter for stores already collecting video reviews — those videos can carry across to Moast's shoppable layer without re-collection.
33 languages. The widget UI supports 33 languages including English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese (simplified and traditional), and most European languages. For multi-locale Shopify Markets stores, this covers the storefront language set without a workaround.
Reviews and launch date. Launched 16 May 2024 by Moast, so the app has had about 18 months in market. 5.0 rating across 348 reviews, with 340 five-stars — the review pool is substantial and the quality is consistent. Review themes focus on responsive support and easy setup.
Typical Moast projects to scope
Most Moast engagements fit one of these shapes. Pick the one closest to yours when you brief a Shopify setup, theme or UGC specialist.
First carousel on PDPs
App installed, Instagram or TikTok connected, one carousel placed above or below the add-to-cart on product pages, five to ten videos tagged with products, launch test
Full-funnel placement with Klaviyo
Carousels placed on homepage, PDPs, collection pages and in Klaviyo welcome and abandoned-cart flows, product tagging taxonomy set, fallback images configured for email
UGC sourcing playbook
Pro-plan UGC collection configured, post-purchase ask designed, rights and consent language standardised, review workflow set up, first batch of customer videos published
Brand-level widget design
Carousel typography, colours, radii and spacing matched to the theme (Horizon, custom, or theme-level styling), mobile layout checked, performance verified against Lighthouse
Reviews-to-shoppable migration
Existing video reviews pulled through Judge.me or Loox, tagged with products, placed on PDPs so the review-video asset earns its second use as a shoppable carousel
Multi-locale rollout on Shopify Markets
Locale-specific video feeds set where the creator pool differs by region, Klaviyo flow variants wired per market, widget UI language set per locale, launch test across each market
Moast questions from Shopify merchants
The headline difference is pricing — Moast's Free Forever plan covers unlimited video views and unlimited widgets, which is wider than the free tier most competitors offer. On features, Moast focuses on the shoppable-video-plus-UGC overlap: carousel widgets with product tagging, Instagram and TikTok imports, Klaviyo integration. Videowise is deeper on video analytics and quizzes. Yotpo is bundled with its reviews platform, which matters if you already run Yotpo. For stores starting from scratch, Moast's price point and Built for Shopify badge make it an easy first install. For stores committed to one vendor's ecosystem, the integration choice usually wins.

Not by design. The vendor's performance claim is that the player is mobile-first and lightweight, and the Built for Shopify badge requires meeting Shopify's own performance standards. In practice, a theme-and-performance pass after install is still worth running if your Lighthouse score is already borderline — a shoppable video carousel is a different weight profile from a thumbnail grid, and the second-party scripts for Instagram and TikTok imports add up. The test is a before-and-after Lighthouse read on a PDP with the carousel live versus the same page with it removed.
Either. Moast's Instagram and TikTok integrations import existing Reels and TikToks directly, so a store with an active social presence can land content in Moast without re-shooting. For stores without a video pipeline, Pro adds UGC collection from customers — which closes the sourcing loop without needing a creator budget. The expert work in both cases is picking what's brand-safe and getting the rights conversation right.
On the Free plan, yes — there's a Moast watermark on the carousel. Pro removes it ($15 a month). For a small store running the Free plan on a side-channel, the branding is a reasonable trade. For a brand running Moast on the homepage of a seven-figure storefront, the Pro plan upgrade for brand consistency is the obvious call.
Yes. The install is a standard Shopify App Store install, the widget placement is drag-and-drop in the theme editor, and Moast's support team is responsive. The expert work is less about the app's interface and more about the strategy — placement, UGC sourcing, product tagging taxonomy, performance tuning and Klaviyo flow integration. The shopexperts setup specialists, theme developers and UGC specialists linked below work from this kind of brief all the time — prior Moast experience is a plus, not a requirement.
