Shopify Experts for Stores in Taiwan
Shopify supports Traditional Chinese in the admin and at checkout for stores based in Taiwan, so the language is rarely the hard part. Payments are. Shopify Payments isn't offered there, which means a third-party provider has to carry every TWD transaction your store takes.
Almost no experts on shopexperts are based in Taiwan at the moment. Instead, the listing holds remote Shopify experts for stores in Taiwan, drawn from other countries and used to Asian clients. Shortlist the ones who can show a working third-party checkout and a storefront proofed in Traditional Chinese.
Request quotes from a few of them, and ask each how they would test your provider's refunds. A quote that skips the provider integration is missing the hardest part of the job.

Working with a Shopify expert from outside Taiwan
Almost every expert in this listing works from outside Taiwan, serving merchants across Asia, which is how plenty of Shopify work gets done anyway. Remote projects do go wrong in predictable places, though, and four checks cover most of them.
Agree a shared working window. Ask for the hours they'll answer messages on your weekdays and the hours they'll be on call around launch. A store that goes live while its developer is asleep is a store with nobody to fix the checkout.
Settle the money in advance. Your customers pay in TWD; your expert may invoice in a different currency. Write the contract currency, the milestone amounts and who pays transfer fees into the agreement, so exchange rates can't reopen the price halfway through.
Keep ownership on your side. Before the expert starts, set up your Shopify store, web address and the account with your TWD payment provider under your company. They should work through a login you created and can revoke. If an expert offers to open accounts on your behalf, decline politely.
Ask for Taiwan references. The useful reference is a live store selling to customers in Taiwan, with a Traditional Chinese checkout and a working third-party payment flow. Click through to the payment step yourself. A portfolio of English-only stores, however polished, tells you little about this particular job.
A sharp brief and a paid trial: hiring for a Taiwan store
Remote experts look alike on paper. Three steps separate them.
Ask about the provider, not the platform. Any remote expert will know Shopify itself. Not every one has integrated an outside payment provider on a store that settles in TWD. Ask which provider they used, how they tested refunds and what they'd do differently next time. A vague answer is an answer.
Pay for a trial before the build. Pick a self-contained job you need done anyway: proofing your Traditional Chinese checkout and notification emails, or entering your tax rates on a development store and showing you a test order. A week of real work reveals more than any sales call, and paying the full rate keeps the trial honest.
Brief for this market. A strong Taiwan brief names the payment provider you've picked, confirms the store trades in TWD, lists every language the storefront needs and who writes each one, gives your product count and says whether you sell only in Taiwan or abroad too. Add whether you'll need a shop counter on Shopify POS. Experts can't price what you leave out, and whatever is missing tends to come back later as a change request.
Taiwan set-up: payments, tax, POS and Traditional Chinese
A third-party provider handles payments. Taiwan falls outside Shopify Payments, and Shopify's documentation directs stores based there to third-party payment providers. The store's currency is the New Taiwan dollar. Before launch, your expert should run a full TWD order, a refund and a declined payment, and show you how each one appears in the admin.
Tax is set by hand. Taiwan has no Shopify Tax or Basic Tax. Manual Tax is the only route: you choose the rates, you keep them current, and you can add a third-party tax app if manual upkeep becomes a burden. Shopify's taxes index carries no Taiwan guide, so ask your accountant for the rates in writing and hand that note to your expert. A Shopify tax setup expert can check the result.
Buy POS hardware from outside retailers. For a Taiwan counter, supported POS devices come from third-party sellers, because Shopify's hardware shop doesn't send orders there. Confirm each model appears on Shopify's supported-hardware list before paying for it.
Traditional Chinese across admin and checkout. Staff can run the Shopify admin in Traditional Chinese, and customers can check out in it. That covers Shopify's own screens. Your theme, your emails and the payment provider's hosted pages need their own review, ideally by a native reader who isn't the person who translated them.
Common Shopify jobs for Taiwan-based stores
For a store based in Taiwan, expert work clusters around payments and language. Brief these separately so the quotes stay readable:
Third-party payment setup
Connecting a provider for TWD checkout, then testing refunds and declines
Traditional Chinese storefront
Theme, product pages and emails proofed by a native reader
Manual Tax rates
Keyed in from your accountant's note and proven on test orders
Cross-border selling
Shipping zones, currencies and duties for buyers outside Taiwan
Replatforming onto Shopify
Catalogue, customer records and old links carried over, redirects mapped
POS for a physical shop
Supported devices sourced, set up and tested with your staff
Shopify experts for Taiwan: what to settle before you hire
Base it on how many skills the job needs at once. A launch that combines a provider integration, Traditional Chinese copy and design work runs more smoothly with an agency coordinating it. A store with a simple catalogue and a provider that connects in a standard way is well within a good freelancer's reach. Don't pay for a team you won't use.
There's no Taiwan price range on this page, so budget from scope rather than from a headline rate. The payment integration and its testing, the amount of Traditional Chinese content, any migration and any POS work are the four lines that move a quote. Keep some budget back for fixes in the first weeks after launch.
Widen the search sensibly rather than lowering the bar. Look for experts who have built a Traditional Chinese storefront elsewhere and, separately, connected a third-party payment provider in a market where Shopify Payments isn't available. Then use a paid trial to close the gap. You can also browse Shopify experts in Hong Kong, another market where Shopify's checkout runs in Traditional Chinese, and ask who on the team reads it.
Only if a native writer on their team does it, and you can see their past work. If the agency outsources copy, that's fine, as long as you know who the writer is and can ask for edits directly. For product pages and checkout text, a careful native writer matters more than the agency's design reputation.
They can plan it, but expect nobody from the listing to be at your counter. Have the expert name exact devices before you buy from a Taiwan retailer, then run the first test sale, refund and receipt together on a video call. If you want hands-on help on opening day, budget for someone local to be there separately.
Only with a native Traditional Chinese reader involved. Shopify's admin and checkout for Taiwan-based stores run in Traditional Chinese, and that's the script shoppers in Taiwan read. An expert whose Chinese-language work is all in Simplified characters can still build the store, but your theme text, emails and product pages need converting and proofing by someone fluent in Traditional Chinese.
