Remote Shopify Experts for Stores in Ecuador
Ecuador's official currency is the US dollar, and that quietly simplifies hiring help from abroad. Your store prices in dollars, a remote expert can quote in dollars, and nobody argues about exchange rates halfway through a project.
The set-up itself doesn't get simpler. Shopify Payments isn't open to stores based in Ecuador, so checkout needs a third-party payment provider, and every tax rate is typed in by hand. Those two jobs decide when the store can take its first order.
Too few experts are based in Ecuador for a local list yet. The Shopify experts for Ecuador shown below are remote: all of them work from outside the country and take on merchants throughout Latin America.
Brief two or three of them in a few lines and request a fixed price from each.

No local list yet: hiring from outside Ecuador
Few experts are based in Ecuador yet. There aren't enough to give the country its own shortlist, so this page doesn't pretend otherwise. The experts listed below all work from abroad, serving clients throughout Latin America. Every one of them will be working with you remotely.
Agree overlapping hours in writing. Before you sign, settle a weekly call slot and a few hours each day when the expert can be reached. A launch-day problem at noon your time shouldn't wait for someone else's morning.
Use the dollar to your advantage. Because your store already runs in US dollars, ask for the contract, invoices and any retainer in dollars too. Your costs and revenue then sit in one currency, which makes the project easy to budget and every invoice easy to check against the quote.
Own every account yourself. Register the store, your payment provider account and every paid app under your own business, then invite the expert as staff. A remote relationship that ends badly is a nuisance when you own the accounts and a crisis when you don't.
Ask for an Ecuadorian reference. The best evidence is a store they've set up that sells in Ecuador. Failing that, a store elsewhere in Latin America that takes payments through an outside provider and uses hand-entered tax rates shows they've already solved the same problems.
What to ask a remote expert before they touch your store
A remote hire is mostly decided in the first conversation. Four questions do most of the work.
Which payment providers have you connected for stores in Ecuador or nearby? A good answer names live stores and admits where they haven't worked before. A vague one usually means they'd be learning on your store.
How will you handle tax here? Listen for a request for your accountant's rates. Anyone who offers to fill them in from memory is guessing with your money.
What will you test before launch? Expect test orders in US dollars, a refund, a declined payment and a read-through of the Spanish checkout and order emails.
What happens if something breaks after launch? Ask for a support window and a response time, written into the contract.
Then pay for a small task. Before committing to the full build, buy one contained job at a fixed price, such as a trial connection of your payment provider on a staging copy of the store, or translating and testing the checkout. The trial shows you their communication, their scoping and whether they keep a deadline, for a fraction of the project cost.
And brief them for an Ecuadorian store. Say what you sell and how many products, name your payment provider (or ask for help choosing one), mention any in-person selling, and state that the store runs in US dollars with Spanish as its main language. That last line stops a remote expert assuming the wrong defaults.
Setting up a dollar-priced Shopify store in Ecuador
Ecuador's store currency is the US dollar, and every part of the set-up should be checked against it, from the payment provider's settlement to the prices at the till.
Payments run through a third-party provider. Shopify Payments doesn't cover Ecuador. Your expert connects an outside provider, confirms it settles in US dollars and checks that it offers the payment methods your customers expect. Test payments and a refund should go through before launch, not after.
Every tax rate is entered by hand. For Ecuador, Manual Tax is the only option Shopify lists. With Shopify Tax and Basic Tax both off the table, the platform calculates nothing itself and applies the rates exactly as entered. Your accountant supplies them; the expert configures them and checks totals on test orders. Shopify also allows third-party tax apps if you want software to carry that load.
Point-of-sale hardware comes from other retailers. Shopify's own hardware shop has no delivery to Ecuador, so in-person sellers buy from a third-party retailer. The expert should check every device against Shopify's supported hardware before you pay for it.
Spanish is covered on both sides. The admin and checkout both support Spanish, so your staff and your customers can work in it. What's left is translating custom checkout text, policy pages and notification emails, so nothing reaches a customer in English by accident.
Where an Ecuadorian store needs outside help
For a store based in Ecuador, these are the jobs that usually justify paying for outside help:
Payment provider hook-up
An outside provider linked to checkout and settling in US dollars
Manual tax configuration
Rates entered by hand and checked on test orders
Spanish checkout review
Custom text, emails and policies translated end to end
Selling beyond Ecuador
Currencies, shipping zones and content for other countries
Switching platforms
Catalogue, customer records and old links brought over to Shopify
Shopify experts for Ecuador: questions about remote help
Rates follow where the expert is based and the shape of the job more than anything about Ecuador. Ask for a fixed price in US dollars against a written scope, plus an hourly rate for anything outside it. A quote far cheaper than the rest usually leaves out testing or post-launch support, so ask what's included before you choose.
For most Ecuadorian stores, yes. The store's currency is the US dollar, so a provider that pays out in dollars avoids a conversion on every sale. Ask your expert to confirm the payout currency, fees and payout timing in writing before connecting anything, and to check which payment methods the provider shows at checkout.
Limit the damage in advance. Ask for work on a duplicate theme so the live one stays untouched until you approve it, and pay in dollar milestones you can check in your own admin. If the expert goes silent, remove their staff access and hand the unfinished theme to someone else. You lose time, not the store.
Partly. They can configure Shopify POS, sync products and stock with the online store, and set up staff and receipts from wherever they are. Plugging in and testing the hardware happens in your shop, so plan a video call for that step and run a test sale while they watch.
For most stores, one expert for set-up and launch, then a separate specialist for marketing if you need it. Splitting the build itself between two remote people doubles the coordination and leaves nobody responsible when checkout breaks. Our guide to hiring a Shopify expert covers the rest of the process.
