Find the Best Shopify Experts in Romania
Shopify pays Romanian stores out in lei or euro and offers a checkout in Romanian, so a shop aimed at local buyers needs no workaround at the payment step. The work that decides results sits on either side of it: product pages that read well, and traffic that actually turns up.
Count the Shopify experts in Romania on shopexperts as of October 2026 and you get 13: 11 agencies and two freelancers, from Bucharest and Braşov to Sibiu and Timişoara. Every one lists Shopify development and store setup. Ten add marketing and growth, and nine write copy and content, so you can realistically hire the build, the words and the campaigns from one team.

Thirteen Romanian profiles, one full-service pattern
Eleven of the 13 Romanian profiles are agencies; two are freelancers. The freelancers suit a defined job with one owner. The agencies suit a launch that bundles build, content and campaigns, which is the combination most of this list offers.
English everywhere, Romanian on two. All 13 list English. Four list Spanish, three French, and one each Russian and Italian, while just two list Romanian. The Spanish and French speakers help if Spain or France is your next market. If your customers are mainly Romanian, ask who will write the Romanian copy before you sign anything.
Full-service is the default. Development and store setup appear on all 13 profiles. Marketing and growth appears on ten, copywriting and content on nine, design, UX and branding on eight, and consulting and strategy on seven. Finance, taxes and compliance is the thin spot at three. A Romanian agency can probably take you from theme to first campaign; VAT configuration may need someone else.
Bucharest is the city named most often, with Sibiu, Timişoara, Braşov and smaller towns such as Dej also on the profiles. Don't choose by city. Choose by portfolio, then use location as a tiebreaker if you want an in-person kick-off.
The order of the listing is simple. The 13 experts based in Romania come first. Further down are experts based outside Romania who also work with merchants in Europe, worth a look for a specialist skill the local list is light on.
Language first, then the team: picking from the Romanian list
The Romanian list leans full-service. That suits most launches, and it suits a few badly.
Stay local if you trade in lei. When orders, payouts and bookkeeping all sit in Romania, a Romanian team quoting in lei keeps exchange risk off the contract. Prioritise the Romanian-speaking profiles if copy needs writing from scratch rather than translating.
Look regional for depth in one discipline. Complex tax and compliance work, a B2B wholesale set-up or a subscription build can justify bringing in a specialist from lower down the page. You can still keep a Romanian agency for build and marketing.
Ask for the team, not the pitch. In a full-service agency, the person who sells the project is rarely the person who builds it. Ask who will write the theme code, who will write the copy and who will run the ads, and get those names into the proposal.
Quote in one currency. A quote in lei and a quote in euros aren't comparable until you convert them on the same day. Ask every shortlisted team to price in the same currency and to say whether VAT is included.
Lei payouts, EU VAT and a Romanian checkout: what to configure
Stores based in Romania get Shopify Payments, with payouts in Romanian leu (RON) or euro. Your expert should confirm that the store currency, the business entity on the account and the payout bank account all match before you take a single order.
VAT deserves the most attention, particularly if Spain, France or other EU countries are on your plan. Romania applies EU VAT. Shopify Tax can work the rates out for a Romanian store; the alternative is Manual Tax, where you set and maintain every rate yourself.
Cross-border consumer sales reported through the One-Stop Shop (Union OSS) need Shopify Tax or Basic Tax underneath. Basic Tax is effectively a legacy route, kept for stores already collecting EU tax on Shopify ahead of 13 May 2026, so a Romanian store launching now would normally pick Shopify Tax.
Shopify calculates and collects. It stops short of filing, so the return and the payment stay with your business. Agree who reviews the settings whenever rates or your markets change: your expert, your accountant or you.
For a physical shop or market stand, plan the hardware early. Shopify's own store sells no devices into Romania and points Romanian sellers to outside retailers for compatible POS kit, so check a model with your expert before you buy a card reader.
Shopify's admin and checkout are both available in Romanian. That covers the platform's own wording. Theme labels, product descriptions and order emails are yours to supply, and they need a fluent writer.
What the Romanian profiles offer, by category
Most Romanian profiles list several categories, so the counts overlap. Together they describe a bench built for complete launches rather than single tasks.

Romanian agencies: copy, quotes and selling abroad
When the store already exists and needs a fixed list of changes, such as a new product template, an app integration or speed fixes. An agency earns its fee when you need several disciplines at once, for example a rebuild with fresh copy and a launch campaign. Ask freelancers who covers for them if they fall ill mid-project.
Some can work in those languages: four Romanian profiles list Spanish and three French. Ask for live stores they've built for those markets, not just translated ones, and check the checkout and order emails in the target language. Selling abroad also touches shipping rates, a returns address customers will accept, and VAT on sales to Spanish or French consumers, so ask who handles each piece.
Ask every agency to price build, copy and campaigns as separate lines. Most of the Romanian list sells all three, so a single bundled figure hides where the money goes and makes it hard to drop one part later. Tie the build to a fixed fee and a written scope, and ask how changes to that scope are priced.
Ask for a sample of their writing in your customers' language, not just a portfolio of designs. Look at a staging link from a current project to see how they organise work in progress. Then speak to a past client and ask two things: did the store launch on time, and what broke in the first month.
Only if everyone assumes someone else is handling it. VAT settings, especially OSS for sales elsewhere in the EU, need a named owner. Ask whether the agency will configure tax itself, bring in one of the three local profiles that list Finance, Taxes & Compliance, or leave it to your accountant, and get the answer written into the proposal.
