Find the Best Shopify Experts in the United States
Finding Shopify help in America is not the hard part. Choosing between agencies that all promise the same migration, theme rebuild and growth plan is.
As of October 2026, 430 Shopify experts in the US have a profile on shopexperts: 383 agencies and 47 freelancers. Between them they cover store setup, custom development, marketing, consulting, design and content. Only 50 take on finance, tax and compliance work.
With that much choice, let the job pick the shortlist, not the logo. Decide whether you need a build, a fix or ongoing help before you open a single profile.
Then pick three of the US profiles below and send them the same brief, sales tax set-up included, so the quotes come back comparable line by line.

Flypost is a Klaviyo-specialized retention agency for DTC Shopify brands doing $2M–$15M. We build the email and SMS infrastructure that turns one-time buyers into repeat revenue — flows, campaigns, segmentation, and the strategy layer most agencies skip. Recent wins: scaled a bakery brand from $80K to $800K in email revenue (80K+ list built from zero), took a knife brand's flow attribution from 20% to 60% with 30% YoY growth, and drove $100K on a flooring brand's first Black Friday. Engagements start with a paid Revenue Teardown, move into a 90-Day Foundation Sprint, then transition to retainer. Small senior team, no handoffs.

Inside the US list: who the agencies and freelancers are
Agencies make up almost the whole list. 383 of the 430 experts based in the US are agencies and 47 are freelancers. If you want one person who answers their own email, seek out the freelancer profiles; most of what you scroll past is firms.
Set-up and development lead. 385 list Store Setup & Management and 326 list Shopify Development, with Marketing & Growth close behind at 294. Strategy, design and content work thin out from there.
Tax specialists are the scarce skill. Only 50 US-based experts list Finance, Taxes & Compliance, fewer than one in eight. If sales tax is part of your launch, ask about it in the first call rather than assuming a generalist covers it.
Languages and cities. English appears on 415 profiles and Spanish on 88, followed by German (31), French (25) and Hindi (8). Profiles name cities including Los Angeles, Austin, Miami, Chicago and Atlanta. Location rarely matters for Shopify work. A shared language with your customers does, once the job includes product copy or support content.
Below the US profiles. US-based experts fill the top of the list. Scroll further and you reach firms and freelancers based abroad that also take North American clients, worth a look if you're open to a team outside the country.
Proof beats size. With 383 agencies to choose from, the useful filter is whether a candidate has already shipped your exact job. Ask each one for two stores they built in your category and a client reference you can actually call.
How much do Shopify experts in the US charge?
Of the 430 US-based experts, 311 show a starting price. Every figure here is in US dollars, read from US profiles in October 2026; anyone listing zero is excluded. Think of a starting price as an expert's floor for taking work on, never a quote for your project.
Middle half of US starting prices

Top quarter of listed prices

Budget from the middle half. The top quarter runs all the way to $50,000, so ask any expert in that band what their starting price actually includes before you rule them in or out.
What moves a US quote. Catalogue size, the number of apps and integrations, a migration from another platform, and a move to Shopify Plus. B2B ordering and sales tax set-up add scope on top.
What to send for a firm number. Your store URL or current platform, SKU count, the three outcomes you need, a deadline and a budget range. Say whether you sell B2B, because that changes the payment set-up.
US set-up details a good expert raises early
Payments. Shopify Payments is available to US-based stores and pays out in US dollars. For wholesale, Shopify's docs list ACH Direct Debit through Shopify Payments, for B2B orders only, so anyone building your B2B flow should confirm buyers can pay that way. Shop Pay Installments is also available here; decide whether it suits your order values before switching it on.
Sales tax. Shopify Tax calculates sales tax automatically. Shopify only files and remits on your behalf if you use Shopify Tax automated filing; otherwise filing stays with you or your accountant. Manual Tax is the alternative for merchants who set rates themselves. A good expert asks which route you're on before touching a single tax setting.
Banking and financing. Shopify Balance is available only to US merchants, and Shopify Capital is offered to eligible US businesses. Neither is a set-up task, but an expert reviewing your payout flow should know both exist.
Retail counters. US merchants can buy POS hardware straight from Shopify's hardware store. For phone-based card taking, Tap to Pay on iPhone and Android runs through Shopify POS, provided Shopify Payments is active.
Selling abroad. Managed Markets is available to businesses based in the continental US. If international orders are on the plan, ask whether it fits before anyone builds country settings by hand. English covers both the admin and checkout, so translation only becomes a job once you add markets.
Where US supply runs deep, and where it thins out

What US merchants ask before hiring a Shopify agency or freelancer
Freelancers are scarce on the US list, at 47 of 430 profiles. Hire one when the job has clear edges: a theme fix, a product import, one app configured properly. Choose an agency when the work crosses design, development and marketing, or when you need cover through peak season. A store still proving its product rarely needs an agency retainer.
When you're already on Shopify Plus, or moving there, and the work touches Plus-only features. On a standard plan, a Plus agency is usually more firm than the job needs, and you pay for process you won't use. Ask any agency claiming Plus experience to name live Plus stores it has worked on and what it did for each.
Not for most Shopify work. What matters is enough overlap in working hours for a weekly call, a contract and invoices in US dollars, and real experience with American sales tax and customer expectations. US profiles sit at the top of the listing, with overseas experts serving North American merchants underneath, so you can weigh both.
If a real share of your customers shop in Spanish, yes. 88 US-based profiles list Spanish, so you can find someone to write product pages and support replies in it without leaving the US list. Ask to see Spanish pages they've written for another store, and have a native speaker check a sample before you sign off the scope.
Yes. A quarter of the US experts who list a starting price set it at $90 or less, so a small, well-defined job is easy to place. Describe the fix in two sentences, attach a screen recording, and ask for a fixed price rather than an hourly estimate. Give the developer their own staff access instead of your owner login, and remove it the day the job is signed off.
The price in USD and what it includes, who owns the code and design files, which app subscriptions sit in your name rather than theirs, the support window after launch, and how change requests get priced. The app point catches people out: if the agency holds the subscriptions, leaving them later gets messy.
