Shopify Checkout Blocks Customisation Experts
Top-rated Checkout Blocks experts
Digital Fresh was founded by Joe Barr after more than a decade working with ecommerce brands across development, optimisation and technical strategy. The studio was built around a simple idea: keep the team deliberately small, stay close to the work and give every client direct access to experienced Shopify specialists. We work with a limited number of brands at any one time, giving every client direct access to experienced Shopify specialists who understand the business they're helping to grow.
Let us match you with the right Shopify expert for your needs.
Share your project details, and we'll handpick the best matches from our Shopify expert directory.

I am a frontend web developer with over 14 years of experience, specialising in Shopify and WordPress development. My focus is on building seamless, conversion-focused eCommerce experiences that combine clean design with high performance. I work with a modern tech stack that includes HTML, CSS, JavaScript (ES6+), Liquid, React, Tailwind CSS, and popular CMS frameworks. I am also experienced in integrating marketing tools such as Klaviyo, Mailchimp, and Google Tag Manager, helping brands automate and scale their online presence effectively. Some of the projects I am most proud of involve transforming underperforming storefronts into fast, mobile-first websites with measurable improvements in conversion rate and user engagement. My approach blends UX/UI enhancement, speed optimisation, and conversion rate optimisation (CRO) strategies to ensure every site not only looks great but delivers real business results. Whether collaborating with agencies or supporting in-house teams, I take a hands-on, performance-driven approach to development-turning creative ideas into high-impact digital experiences.
I build high-performing Shopify stores designed for speed, scalability, and long-term savings so your only monthly cost is your Shopify subscription. If your current theme is patched or bloated, a clean rebuild is the smarter move. All builds are theme-editable, free from third-party scripts, and made to be maintained forever. I work exclusively with the Horizon theme, the latest stack by Shopify, and also work with fresh paid themes without any dev history to create fast, SEO-ready, and easy-to-manage stores that convert. What I specialize in: - Shopify 2.0 and custom theme rebuilds - Web redesigns and new designs using Figma - Figma to Shopify development - Performance and SEO optimization - CRO-focused custom features/sections - Shopify API and app development (Shopify Plus) - Long-term store care and maintenance Most clients stay for years because I build clean, smart, and scalable stores that deliver real results. Let’s make your Shopify store work harder for you.

What Checkout Blocks experts change at checkout
Checkout is the one page where a careless change costs money the same afternoon. Most Checkout Blocks work is configuration rather than code, but the configuration choices are exactly where stores go wrong.
Plus checkout customisation. Custom fields such as a terms checkbox or a gift message. Hiding, renaming and reordering delivery and payment methods. Custom order and shipping discounts with advanced rules. All of it needs Shopify Plus.
Content blocks with display rules. Banners, buttons, images, text and accordions that appear only when set conditions are met. The display rules are the skill. A block every customer sees, whether it applies to them or not, is usually a block nobody needed.
Thank you and Order status pages. Shopify set 26 August 2026 as the upgrade deadline for both pages and automatically upgraded any store that hadn't acted. Older customisations, such as additional scripts, have to be rebuilt. Every plan from Basic up can place static and dynamic content blocks here.
Wholesale order limits. Minimum and maximum order subtotals reached Basic, Grow and Advanced in April 2026, so a wholesale minimum no longer requires a Plus upgrade.
Functions and line-item blocks. The app also covers Functions, a branding editor, and line-item content and editing blocks. Experts who list Shopify development take these on when a no-code block can't express the rule.
Checkout audits. A review of every active block, rule and discount against what Shopify has changed since early 2025, with a list of what to keep, rebuild or delete.
How much does a Shopify Checkout Blocks expert cost?
The app is free, but your plan decides what an expert can build with it: the checkout page itself on Plus, the post-purchase pages and order value limits elsewhere. The tiles use starting prices published by the 27 Checkout Blocks badge holders (USD, checked October 2026); profiles showing zero don't count. A starting price is the lowest project price an expert lists. Your checkout's scope sets the real figure.

Scope drives everything. A few content blocks on the Thank you page is a short job. A Plus checkout with custom fields, method rules, custom discounts and Functions, tested with real orders before launch, is a project.
For a quote, send your plan, screenshots of checkout and both post-purchase pages, the exact rules you need (which methods to hide, which fields to add), and any blocks still running that Shopify has since retired. And don't book checkout changes for your busiest trading weeks.
What changed in Checkout Blocks during 2025 and 2026
Since early 2025, Checkout Blocks has lost two features, changed its styling and moved one feature down the plan ladder. A good expert starts by checking what your store still relies on.
Address Blocker is gone. Shopify sunset the Address Blocker block on 31 August 2026. Its replacement is a native checkout rule, Address format validation, under Settings → Checkout → Checkout rules, open to all merchants. If you depended on the block, that logic has to be recreated as a rule and tested.
Checkbox upsells stopped auto-adding products. Shopify removed auto-add from checkbox upsell blocks on 20 February 2025. Free-gift setups that relied on it now need a third-party app.
Post-purchase pages were upgraded for you. The 26 August 2026 deadline has passed, and Shopify upgraded the stores that hadn't moved. Load a test order's Thank you page and its Order status page, and confirm tracking, messages and survey prompts still appear.
Styling options shrank. A 31 March 2026 API upgrade mapped custom text sizes in static, dynamic and line-item content blocks to a simpler small and default range, and removed some styling options. Blocks designed before then may look different now.
The plan rules moved. Order value limits reached Basic, Grow, Advanced and Plus on 13 April 2026, yet the help-centre overview still says every feature beyond post-purchase content blocks is Plus-only. The changelog and App Store listing are the current word. Staff editing blocks also need metaobject content permissions, not just app access.

Rules a static block can't express, for development-minded experts
Shopify Checkout Blocks app: plans, retired features, access
For the checkout page itself, yes. Custom fields, payment and delivery method rules, custom discounts and content blocks inside checkout are Plus features. On Basic, Grow and Advanced, the app still handles order value limits and content blocks for the two post-purchase pages, Thank you and Order status. If checkout customisation is your only reason to consider Plus, price the work before the upgrade.
A native checkout rule called Address format validation, under Settings → Checkout → Checkout rules, available to all merchants. Shopify sunset the block on 31 August 2026. Whatever address logic you ran through it needs rebuilding as a rule, then testing with real addresses from the places you ship to.
No. Since 20 February 2025, checkbox upsell blocks can't auto-add products, and auto-added free gifts now need a third-party app. If your checkout still shows an old upsell block, have an expert check it, so customers aren't promised a gift that never reaches the order.
Yes, since 13 April 2026. Order value limits in Checkout Blocks work on Basic, Grow, Advanced and Plus, with a minimum and maximum subtotal. That's the simplest way to enforce a wholesale minimum. Shopify described the change as following its expansion of key B2B features to select non-Plus plans.
A 31 March 2026 update simplified block styling. Custom text sizes in static, dynamic and line-item content blocks now map to small or default, and some styling options went. Blocks built before that date may need a layout review. Usually that means shorter copy and a clearer order, not a rebuild.
Staff need access to the app and permission to manage metaobject content. If someone opens the app and can't save a block, check those permissions before assuming the app is broken. Give a hired expert a staff account with the same access rather than sharing an owner login. Our checkout troubleshooting guide covers other common faults.
