ShopiCraft | A Boutique Agency, Founded by a Former Shopify Employee I'm Daniel, and together with my co-founder Daulet, we run ShopiCraft — a boutique Shopify agency focused on solving the technical problems other developers won't touch. I spent years inside Shopify before going independent. Daulet brings 10 years of full-stack development experience from one of Europe's leading energy firms. Together, we help merchants turn their Shopify stores from basic storefronts into reliable revenue machines. We specialize in the technical work that sits between "good enough" and "actually scalable" — the custom apps, integrations, and automations that make your store work the way your business actually needs it to. What We Do: Custom App Development: Bespoke Shopify apps (public and private) built to solve specific workflow problems your business has outgrown. API Integrations: Complex third-party connections, ERP syncs, warehouse management systems, and custom data flows that need to just work. Store Builds & Redesigns: Full theme development, migrations, and rebuilds for brands ready to level up their storefront. Technical Consulting & Audits: Store performance reviews, app stack optimization, and strategic guidance on scaling your technical infrastructure. Automation & Workflows: Shopify Flow implementations, inventory systems, order routing, and multi-location logic that eliminate manual work. Training & Mentorship: Hands-on guidance for in-house teams learning to manage Shopify more effectively. How we work: Daulet handles all custom and public app development — the deep technical builds that require serious engineering. I handle client strategy, audits, consultations, store builds, and anything client-facing. This division means you get both: a developer who can actually build what you need, and a consultant who understands your business well enough to recommend the right solution. We work with brands that are either: Scaling quickly and need technical infrastructure that won't break under pressure Stuck with a Shopify setup that's actively holding back growth Tired of developers who disappear after delivery or agencies that can't execute custom work Our approach is different: We don't "sell" packages or push unnecessary apps. We diagnose what's actually broken, scope solutions honestly, and build things that last. No fluff, no vendor lock-in, no recurring retainers unless the work genuinely requires it. ShopiCraft is a boutique agency — which means you're working directly with the people who'll build your solution, not account managers reading from scripts. We focus on finding the most efficient, creative solutions to your specific pain points. If your developer ghosted you, your agency said "that's not possible," or you're pretty sure your store could do more but don't know where to start — that's exactly what we're here for. We're based in Dublin and Kazakhstan, working with Shopify and Shopify Plus merchants globally. Let's fix what's broken and build what's missing. 🔧

Smile.io Shopify work: design first, widgets second
The mistake most merchants make with Smile is hiring for implementation when the value sits in the design. The install is the easy part. The programme economics need a person.
Programme design. What a point costs at redemption, what that does to margin, how many members will realistically redeem, and how many orders it takes to reach a first reward.
Launch and branding. Configuring points, VIP tiers, referrals and memberships, then styling the on-site panel to the brand. Smile supports full brand customisation and more than 20 languages, which matters if the storefront runs in several.
Accounts, checkout and till. Adding Loyalty Hub as a page in customer accounts, setting up the POS tile, and on Shopify Plus, adding the checkout extensions that let signed-in customers redeem points and see what an order will earn.
Migration. Importing members and points balances from another loyalty programme. Balances are what customers notice first, so a careful expert moves a test group, checks the numbers match, then moves everyone.
Custom builds. Developers use Smile's REST API, JavaScript SDK and Smile UI to build custom front ends or push loyalty data into back-end systems. API access starts on the Growth plan, so check the plan before a developer quotes.
Keep the two jobs apart. Choosing earn rates and tiers is strategy. Making the panel match the theme is front-end work. Merchants routinely pay strategy rates for CSS, and the reverse is worse.
What do Smile.io experts charge to start?
All 29 Smile.io-badge holders set a starting price on shopexperts, and the tiles group what they listed (USD, pulled in October 2026). Each tile reflects the lowest project prices shown on those profiles: a minimum, not a quote for your programme.

Top quarter

The spread is wide because loyalty work comes in two sizes. Styling the panel, placing Loyalty Hub or adding a POS tile is a small job. Designing a programme from margin data, migrating thousands of balances or building on the API is not.
Quotes only line up when every expert gets the same facts. Include whether you run Shopify Plus, your Smile plan, whether the store uses new customer accounts, roughly how many members and balances would move, and whether you sell in person through POS. If you have a margin limit for the programme, put it in the brief. A screenshot of your current earning rules and reward list saves the first call from being spent on discovery.
Customer accounts, Plus checkout and POS: the fine print
Checkout redemption is a Plus feature. Spending points inside checkout needs Shopify Plus and a Smile Growth plan or higher. Stores on other Shopify plans can't offer it, whatever Smile plan they pay for. A brief that promises in-checkout redemption to a non-Plus store has a problem before work starts.
Old account code won't carry over. Shopify has deprecated legacy customer accounts, and theme-based points-balance code written for the old accounts doesn't work in new customer accounts. Loyalty Hub works best on the new ones. It is added in the checkout and accounts editor (Settings → Checkout → Customize → Apps) as an Accounts page, and starts on the Growth plan.
Membership counts change. On new customer accounts, someone only becomes a member after signing in with Shopify's sign-in code and loading Smile content. If member numbers look low after a switch, check that rule before blaming the programme.
POS runs through a tile. Smile adds a smart grid tile to Shopify POS and works with both POS Lite and POS Pro, so customers can earn and spend points in store as well as online.
Plan names differ by source. The App Store shows Growth as the top plan, while Smile's own pricing page adds Plus and Enterprise. Smile's Plus plan and Shopify Plus are different things, and mixing them up in a brief causes more confusion than it should.
The free plan has a ceiling. It covers up to 200 monthly orders. Good for proving customers care; not where Loyalty Hub or API work happens.

Smile.io questions: partners, points and integrations
The badge doesn't say. It records that an expert lists Smile work here, nothing more. Smile runs its own partner programme for agency and technology partners, with onboarding support, co-selling and revenue sharing. If that matters to you, ask the expert whether they belong to it and confirm with Smile.
Usually the first reward feels out of reach, or claiming it takes too much effort. If a typical customer needs eight orders to earn anything worth having, they stop paying attention. For the effort problem, check where points are visible: Smile's on-site panel, Loyalty Hub in customer accounts and, on Shopify Plus, the checkout extension that shows points to earn and lets signed-in customers redeem. A programme review shows which problem you have.
Every unredeemed point is a discount you have promised. Smile's bonus events and promotions make it easy to hand points out in bulk, and each campaign adds to what you owe. Decide whether points expire, and how members will be told, before the first big event rather than after it. Too aggressive and you damage trust; no policy at all and the obligation never closes.
Loyalty data earns more outside the loyalty app than inside it. Typical uses: segmenting email by VIP tier, showing points balances to support agents, and gating early access by tier. Smile's listing names Shopify Flow, and its REST API is the route for anything custom. Decide which systems need loyalty data before the programme launches, not after.
Work backwards from margin, not forwards from what feels generous. Settle what a point costs at redemption and what change in repeat orders would cover it, then place the first reward within a normal second or third purchase. Smile offers benchmarks drawn from its network of programmes; use them as a sense check on your numbers, not a target to copy.
This group splits almost evenly. A freelancer suits defined tasks such as Loyalty Hub placement, a POS rollout or panel styling. An agency fits when programme design, email campaigns and the launch all need doing at once, or when balances from a large programme have to move without anyone noticing.
