Find the Best Shopify Experts in Australia
One detail decides how quickly an Australian store can go live. GST runs through Shopify's Basic Tax service here, and that service needs your tax registration number before it does anything. Have it ready before your expert starts.
As of October 2026, 74 Shopify experts in Australia list a profile on shopexperts: 67 agencies and 7 freelancers. Nearly all handle store setup and most build on Shopify. Consulting is listed almost as often as marketing, so plenty of these teams sell strategy alongside delivery.
That's useful if you're rebuilding how the business sells online. It's overhead if you only need a theme fixed.
Judge each one on the Australian stores it has launched, then shortlist three below and send each the same brief.

You wouldn’t go to a job interview in your undies, so don’t let an out-of-date and out-of-touch, barely functioning website represent your business. You’re better than that. Pull your finger out, put on your best pants, and make an impression that people will remember.
Our mission is to empower merchants to gain freedom, clarity and growth. We do this by building for agency independence, providing guidance all with the true vision of achieving business growth for our clients. We lead with eComm strategy, web design, Shopify enablement
I have over five years of experience in web development using technologies such as Shopify, Angular, Node.js, JavaScript, React, Vue, MongoDB, MySQL, and PHP. My journey with Shopify started when I joined Hey Carson, now known as 'Shop Experts', successfully completing their trial period. I have gained significant experience in Shopify development. I've worked in complex tasks such as integrating Shopify apps, Shopify Admin API, custom design development, apps extensions development, theme development and much more. Over the past few years, I've acquired what I believe is a solid understanding of Shopify development, which helps me deliver high-quality solutions to the clients I've worked with.
I help online businesses make more money with what they already have. Your $100 in ads once brought back $1,000. Now the same $100, in ads or apps, quietly brings back less every month. You are busy running the business, so nobody chases why. So I start with an audit, the way a hospital starts with triage. A short call is the triage. A fixed-price read is the lab test. The results decide the fix, and the fix has a fixed price before it starts. Shopify speed and ad tracking fixes: for stores where the ads bring visitors but not sales. One example. A clothing brand's product pages took 15.4 seconds to load. Five weeks before Black Friday, I got them to 7.4 seconds. That is the job: I find what slows your store down, and I fix it. The same work keeps finding a second problem: numbers you cannot trust. The code that tells Meta or Google about a sale fires twice, so sales count double. Ads run across every product, with no check on which ones earn. Apps bill every month for work nobody has measured. So I also check what your money is really doing, instead of trusting what Google, Meta and the apps say. Then I fix what I find. I work with established stores run by their founders. To me, speed and ad spend are sales problems, not technical boxes to tick. What I work on, eight ways in: Speed check. I measure how fast your pages load for real shoppers on a phone. I find what makes them wait, and I fix it. Accessibility check. I test your store the way a keyboard user or a screen reader meets it. I check whether a widget sits on top of problems it does not fix. You get the findings in the order a complaint would reach them. Shopify deadline check. Shopify changes its rules on set dates. Scripts ended on 30 June. Order status script tags ended on 26 August. I find what has already stopped working on your store and what is dated ahead, and I make the repairs. Tracking and attribution fix. Meta Pixel, GA4 (Google Analytics) and server-side tracking. I remove the double counting and prove it in your own dashboards. Ad spend by product and the app bill get read in the same pass. Google and Meta recovery. Your products stopped showing on Google or Meta. I find where the connection broke and get them showing again. Sale price check. AI shopping tools, like ChatGPT, now get your "was" prices from Shopify. I check that yours reach them right. Builds and theme upgrades. New sections and modern themes, with your custom work and your tracking still running. Every change to the live site has a way back. Partner Seat. 25 hours a month. I watch speed, the pages customers see, broken links, tracking and app bills. Your work goes first in the queue. Each check is $285. If you go ahead, I take the fee off the fix price. Key results: Product page load time cut from 15.4 seconds to 7.4 seconds, 52% faster. Mobile PageSpeed on product pages from 18 to 28. The apps the client chose stayed in place, at their call. Two apps were billing to track what the store's own Google channel already did. I removed them, checked the tracking was clean, and took $199 a year off the app bill. Repeat clients going back to 2018. One store has come back for 14 projects over four years. How I work: A paid check first. It measures the real problem, no guessing. If you go ahead, I take the fee off the fix price. Work in stages. You approve each one. Every delivery ends with before and after numbers, and a short list of the next things I found. 80+ projects done. Clients in the US, Canada, UK, Australia and Denmark. Send me your store address. I will tell you what slows it down, whether your numbers add up, and what a complaint would find first. No commitment.

Australia's Shopify bench: agency-led and strategy-heavy
Consulting almost matches marketing. 49 of the 74 experts based in Australia list Marketing & Growth and 46 list Consulting & Strategy. If a candidate proposes a paid discovery phase, it can earn its fee on a replatform. On a defined fix, skip it.
Agencies, mostly. 67 of the 74 experts based in Australia are agencies and 7 are freelancers, more than nine firms for every solo specialist. If you want one person doing the work and taking the calls, start with those seven profiles.
Development is the norm, tax is rare. 71 list Store Setup & Management and 61 list Shopify Development, but only 3 list Finance, Taxes & Compliance. Expect whoever builds your store to set up GST as well, and ask each candidate how they've handled it before.
Cities and languages. Profiles name Sydney, Melbourne, Gold Coast, Perth and South Yarra. Remote delivery is normal for Shopify work, so a store in Perth can hire Shopify developers in Australia based in Sydney or Melbourne without giving much up. English is on 71 profiles; Spanish (5), Italian (3), French (3) and Hindi (2) are rare, so a store selling in another language may need a separate translator.
Who appears below. Australian profiles sit at the top. Beneath them you'll find experts from other countries who serve Australian and New Zealand stores too. Scroll past the local profiles if none fits your budget or your stack.
Shortlist on category first. A store that needs a rebuild wants development depth; a store with traffic but weak sales wants the marketing side. Then ask each candidate for one Australian store they launched and how long it really took.
What do Shopify experts and agencies in Australia charge?
Starting prices appear on 41 of the 74 Australian profiles. They're quoted in US dollars as of October 2026, and profiles showing zero don't count. A starting price is the smallest job an expert will price, never a quote for your store.

Median starting price

Convert before you compare. Your Shopify payouts arrive in Australian dollars, and a USD figure can look cheaper or dearer than it is. Ask for quotes in AUD, and ask whether GST is added to the expert's own invoice.
What drives the number. Catalogue size, custom theme work versus an adapted theme, a migration, POS across one or more shops, and how much strategy is bundled in. With consulting on 46 Australian profiles, ask whether a discovery phase is included and whether you can drop it.
For an accurate quote, send your store URL, SKU count, sales channels, deadline and a budget band. The tighter the brief, the closer the first number lands.
What an Australian store needs from its Shopify set-up
GST through Basic Tax. Australia isn't a Shopify Tax region. GST runs through Shopify's Basic Tax service, which requires a tax registration number. Your expert can't finish this part without it, so send the number with the brief and have your accountant check the settings before launch.
AUD payouts. Australian-based stores get Shopify Payments, paid out in Australian dollars. Shopify Capital is offered to eligible Australian businesses, though that's a conversation with Shopify rather than a job for your expert. Do check that payouts land in the right bank account during testing, not after the first sales weekend.
Shops and pop-ups. Australian merchants can order POS hardware direct from Shopify's hardware store. Shopify POS can also turn a phone into a card reader with Tap to Pay on iPhone and Android, but only once Shopify Payments is switched on, so get payments live before you plan a counter around phones.
Language. Admin and checkout run in English. Translation only becomes set-up work if you start selling into non-English markets.
What a good expert asks. Your GST registration status, whether you sell in person, which payment methods you need beyond cards and whether Shopify Payments covers them, and who will own the store and its app subscriptions. If none of these come up in the first call, keep looking.

Shopify experts in Australia: GST, offshore help and other questions
Yes, for contained jobs: a theme change, an app configured, a batch of product pages. You also get the person doing the work on every call. With only seven freelancers among the Australian profiles, though, expect a short list. Once design, build and marketing all have to move together, an agency makes more sense.
Offshore developers can do well on tightly specified development tasks. Set-up decisions are different: GST under Basic Tax, Shopify Payments, POS and Tap to Pay are easier with someone who has configured Australian stores before. If you go offshore, keep GST and Shopify Payments with someone who has set them up for an Australian store, and hand over only work with a written spec.
Shopify's Basic Tax service needs one, so your expert can't complete GST set-up without it. Don't let anyone launch with tax switched off as a workaround. Ask your accountant whether you need to register before you start trading online, and let the expert build everything else while you sort it.
Ask for live Australian stores they built, not mock-ups. Load them on your phone, add something to the cart and walk to the checkout to see how GST appears. Then ask one client what went wrong during the project and how the expert handled it. That answer tells you more than the portfolio.
Look across Australia, in most cases. Shopify projects run remotely, and the best fit for your category may sit in another state. City only matters when you want in-person workshops or help setting up POS in a physical shop. If you're in Sydney and want someone local, start with the Shopify experts in Sydney.
Shopify Partner is Shopify's own programme for agencies and freelancers who build on the platform, and a profile here doesn't confirm it on its own. Ask for the expert's listing in Shopify's Partner Directory, then compare the stores and reviews shown there with what they told you. If the two don't line up, ask why before you sign.
